LIGHT OVERCOMING DARKNESS

LIGHT OVERCOMING DARKNESS - All over the world, our Jewish sisters and brothers are in the midst of their observance of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, which celebrates the miracle of light overcoming darkness.  Although Hanukkah's origin dates to the second century B.C.E, its spiritual message is timeless.  Hanukkah beckons the faithful to light a candle in the darkness, not only in the physical, but also in the spiritual sense of the term.  If everyone determined to light a candle in the darkness of our world, pretty soon the whole world would be filled with light.  As Rabbi Zalman reminds us, even a little bit of light can dispel a lot of darkness.
