O To Be Happy!

O To Be Happy! - "O . . . to be as happy as the birds are!" exclaimed 19th-century naturalist writer John Burroughs.  Birds - take the Carolina Wrens, for instance - do appear to be happy, regardless of the weather or other possible concerns that might be running through their little minds.  Thus, we find it uplifting to watch and listen to the birds on a grey, winter's day.  As long as they have food and water, they seem to be content.  If only we humans could follow their example, even a little bit or for a little while.

  1. A day like today -- we had a significant blizzard yesterday -- reminds of this so well. Thank you.
