FOCUSING ON POSSIBILITY - In uncertain times, it is very easy to let ourselves default to thinking the worst possible outcome. That medical test? It will reveal a life-threatening illness. A loved one is running late? They have had a bad accident. That meteoroid just spotted by scientists? It’s going to strike the earth and kill us all. This current pandemic? It will never end. You know what I am talking about. Allowing ourselves to default to thinking the worst possible outcome can throw us into a deep, dark emotional hole, if we allow it to. How much better if we could train ourselves to follow Emily Dickinson’s lead and “dwell in possibility.” Thinking about, meditating upon, praying for the best possible outcome would be so much healthier for us, both mentally and physically.
