ON ENDURANCE AND CHARACTER

ON ENDURANCE AND CHARACTER - Bordering the back yard in a house we once lived in was an open field.  One spring a mother Killdeer built her nest on the ground in that open field, and we would watch from our back windows and door how she faithfully defended that nest night and day.  A line of strong, spring thunderstorms came through, bringing lightning and thunder, hard rain, and strong winds.  That mother Killdeer never once left her nest and eggs, but she faithfully stayed put and endured through it all.  Such proved to be a great inspiration.  The Apostle Paul encourages that endurance through trouble produces character, and character in turn produces hope.  May we have the same type of mother Killdeer endurance through the storms of life we face, assured that doing so will produce character and bolster our hope for brighter days to come.
