ON GOD'S BEAUTY
ON GOD'S BEAUTY - I don’t know about you, but since we were forced to start social distancing and spend a great deal of time apart at home, unable to go and do as we were accustomed to doing, I have found myself focusing more on the natural beauty in and around my home base. I have taken in the deep hues of the wildflowers and the vibrant colors of the birds as never before. And a lot of the classic quotations I have drawn from to compliment my nature photographs include the word “beauty.” Many naturalists, poets, and essayists realized that beauty – especially natural beauty – is a tonic or bread for the soul. Some of them, in the spirit of the philosopher of Ecclesiastes (3:11), recognized beauty as being of God, a wonderful gift of God. We may not be able to do much about the woes of the world that have led to social isolation. But we can open wide our eyes and feed our souls with natural beauty.
