EARTH'S SINGING

EARTH'S SINGING - Crocuses, the first harbinger of Spring in these parts, have pushed their way up through the cold ground to bless us with their beauty.  I found that verse from the Hebrew Song of Songs to be delightful: "Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come" (Song of Songs 2:12 NIV).  To draw on and adapt a thought of Ralph W. Emerson, the earth sings in flowers.  Soon the purple Crocuses will be followed by a host of other spring beauties - Daffodils, Lenten Roses, Forsythias, and more.  Before we know it, the earth will be bursting forth in jubilant flowery song!  We are ready for it, are we not?  As flowers appear on the earth, may we welcome the time of singing and open ourselves to jubilant song as well.
