UNREALIZED GIFTS

UNREALIZED GIFTS - Perhaps you have had the experience of discovering a present someone had given you some time ago that you laid aside or misplaced and then forgot about it, only to be delighted to discover it some time later.  Or perhaps you had purchased or made a present for someone else and, for whatever reason, were not able to give it to them at the time, and you laid it aside and forgot about it, only to find it some time later and were able to bring that person delight with the long-lost gift.  The 14th-century poet Hafiz speaks of many hand-crafted presents that come to us from the hand of God just waiting to be discovered.  Likewise, the psalmist spoke of snow as being one of those divine gifts when he said, God gives snow like wool (Psalm 147:16).  Something as common as icy snow on the branch of a tree can be seen as a  delightful gift, if we have eyes to see.
