THINK OF ALL THE BEAUTY

THINK OF ALL THE BEAUTY - This Spring I felt moved to read again Anne Frank's diary that was discovered by her father after WW II and published under the title of The Diary of a Young Girl.  Thirteen-year-old Anne recorded her personal, innermost thoughts over the course of several months while she, her immediate family, and another family hid out in an upper floor of old office building in attempts to escape arrest by the Germans.  Anne left us a vivid picture of their experiences - constant fear of being discovered, food rationing and hunger, cold, isolation, living together in quietness in cramped quarters, frightening war reports on the radio, being able to see through curtained windows as their Jewish neighbors were carried away, and more.  But in spite of all the difficulties and troubles they experienced, Anne still managed, for the most part, to maintain a positive attitude and to be grateful for all the beauty around her.
