CONTEMPLATION OF BEAUTY
CONTEMPLATION OF BEAUTY - I have said it more than once these past few months: the pandemic was an encouragement to me to be more conscious of natural beauty, a practice that is naturally accompanied by contemplation. My American Heritage Dictionary defines "contemplation" as "Thoughtful observation or meditation." Paul wrote, "whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—think about such things" (Phil. 4:8 NIV). And as the Greek philosopher Plato observed, "The contemplation of beauty causes the soul to grow wings."
