LIVING IN THE PRESENT

LIVING IN THE PRESENT - Sadly, there have been times in my life when I lived for the future: living in anticipation of being able to drive, longing for graduation or getting that degree, getting hired by that first church, getting that first book contract, and so on.  But the older I get, the more I find myself trying to live more mindfully in the present.  Perhaps it is the result of age, or maybe it is the fact that I have grown a little wiser or a bit more spiritually mature.  But we come to realize that the only time we really have is the present moment.  As the wise writer of the epistle of James reminds us, there is no promise of tomorrow.
